Laugalækjarskóli receives continued recognition as a UNICEF Rights Respecting School
Laugalækjarskóli has received continued designation from UNICEF as a Rights Respecting School. This important recognition validates the school's dedicated work promoting children's human rights.
The school started participating in the program in 2016 and earned its first certification in May 2018. At the same time, the Laugó youth center became the first of its kind worldwide to earn certification as a Rights Respecting Youth Center. We are thrilled to continue this journey and deepen our commitment to human rights.
Today, Nov. 20, on Universal Children's Day, Laugalækjarskóli formally accepted the honor at an assembly with students and staff. To mark the occasion, the school held special activities instead of regular classes, where students participated in projects focused on children's rights. The school also served cakes decorated with articles from the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
We are proud of this recognition and look forward to continuing to build a strong human rights program with our students.
